Mrs. Jensen & Mrs. Nelson’s Discipline Plan

First Grade - B Track

2007-2008

We follow the school-wide “Stop & Go” Program.  It is a corrective rather than a punitive system.  If a student breaks one of the class rules, he or she receives a “Stop & Think” where they sit quietly for 5 minutes and think about making a better choice.  The 2nd time a student breaks a rule, they get another “Stop & Think.”  The 3rd time that a student makes a poor choice, he or she will be sent to another room for a “Stop & Go.”  They will work on their regular class-work in that other classroom for 30 minutes.  There will be a note sent home for the parent or guardian to sign.   If the student fails to return the signed “Stop & Go” form, they will receive another automatic “Stop & Think” the next day.  A student should not receive more than 2 Stop & Go’s in a 2 week period.  If there are 3 or more “Stop & Go’s” in that 2 week period, there will be a conference with the student, parents, teachers, and principal.

The 3 classroom rules are:

  1. I will not harm myself, others, or my environment.

  2. I will respect others at all times.

  3. If given a “Stop & Go,” I will go willingly.

Every month there is a special reward assembly for students who have had no more than one “Stop & Go” during the previous month.  There are also “Panther Pride” tickets given out throughout the week for great behavior that are used to draw for prizes.
